Rio Lauca Chullpares

Discover the magic of epochs that have left tracks throughout time; Bolivia has a diverse archaeological and paleontological legacy, from cultures such as Chiripa, Tiwanaku and Inca. It is in Bolivia that paleontological sites such as Dinosaur Tracks can be found.

LAUCA CIRCUIT

A remarkable excursion, made with the support of a community enterprise. It allows visitors to get to know the majestic Polychrome Chullpas, which belong to the Inca period, the Saquewa lagoon with its diversity of flamingos and colonial churches dating from the end of the Inca period.

MILLENARIAN TITICACA

Isla del Sol – Copacabana- La Paz
A water-borne lake tour in which we travel to the Isla del Sol to visit archaeological sites at the Yumani steps and the Source of Eternal Youth. We also observe Andean agricultural systems, the cordillera of the Andes and the palace of Pilkokaina, visiting viewpoints and sites of particular archaeological importance.

TORO TORO

Our programme begins in the city of Cochabamba, arriving after a 4-hour journey at the "Uma Jalanta Cave or Cavern" to observe ivory-like stalactites and stalagmites, access to which is a great adventure. Within this Cavern we will discover innumerable silhouettes or figures in calcareous stones, stalactites and stalagmites, which have been formed over several hundred years. Continuing on this route, we can observe an underground lagoon where “blind fish” are still to be found. We will follow "tracks left by Dinosaurs and Carnosaurs", footsteps dating back 80 million years to the Cretaceous Period. Finally, we will carry out a hike through the “Cerro de las 7 vueltas” (Mountain of the Seven Turns), where we can observe plant and animal fossils. At the end of the third day we return to Cochabamba.

DINOSAUR TRACKS

These Dinosaur Tracks, which are around 65 million years old, were discovered in Sucre; they can be viewed in what is the biggest site of its kind in Bolivia. Later on, the Museum of Natural History and the Cretacean Park await us as a complement to this visit.

MILLENARIAN TIWANAKU

This trip involves a very early departure from the city of La Paz and journey to Tiwanaku. It includes a short stop in Laja, where the city of La Paz was originally founded. Then we will arrive at the Archaeological site of Tiwanaku, where we can appreciate incomparable manifestations of this culture such as the Gateway of the Sun, the Pyramid of Akapana, the Temple of Kalasasaya and the Semisubterranean Temple. There is also a visit to the Archaeological Site’s Museum, as well as a tour of the village of Tiwanaku to visit a church in which stones of incalculable historical-cultural value can be appreciated. After Lunch we move on to Puma Punku and the “Sukacollos”.
