A tour of La Paz that permits visitors to appreciate this city, which is geographically unique in terms of the culture and mystique expressed in people’s daily lives. Our living culture programmes allow the visitor to get to know the other side of La Paz, its traditions, customs and myths. Here, blessing ceremonies using coca or readings of the sacred leaf are part of becoming familiar with, and learning about, this country’s culture and people.

LAKE TITICACA

Lake Titicaca, because of the cultural legacy of its archaeological sites and the Andean mystique of populations located around it, is without a doubt one of the places that must not be missed during your visit to Bolivia. The Islands of the Sun and Moon, Sampaya and Copacabana, are the most representative sites; however, small settlements such as Pariti, Quewaya, Tirasca, Chiripa and Taraco also demonstrate the Lake’s diversity and majesty.

JESUIT MISSIONS

The Jesuit Missions are found in eastern Bolivia, in the department of Santa Cruz.  San Javier, Concepción, San Ignacio, Santa Ana, San Rafael and San Miguel are all places of worship that were built, in the Mestizo Baroque style, by the Jesuits alongside indigenous craftspeople. The presence of these places of worship has influenced the indigenous lifestyle, and the appropriation of Catholicism has become the basis for the local communities’ way of life.  The communities where these Churches were developed have become very important Agricultural and Cattle-raising Centres in Bolivia.

KALLAWAYAS TOUR

Duration: 2-5 days
The Kallawayas, proclaimed by UNESCO as an Intangible Patrimony of Humanity, are Quechua-speaking healers whose wealth lies in their ancestral knowledge of the use of plants for the fabrication of medicines, as well as their prediction of the future in the sacred coca leaf. These people are experts in curing and prognosis. Our Kallawaya tour permits access to the essence of their culture and interaction with Andean mystique and tradition.
