PS201 CULTURAL CITY TOUR
DURATION: 4 HOURS
This programme includes visits to the viewing point, the Recoleta Museum, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Museum of the Merced, Church of San Lázaro, Parque Bolivar, the Casa de la Libertad (House of Liberty), and several plazas and other historical monuments, as well as the ASUR Textile Museum.
PS202 HISTORICAL CITY TOUR
DURATION: 4 HOURS
This tour takes us to the Casa de la Libertad, and the historical patio of the University of San Francisco Xavier of Chuquisaca; one of the first universities in South America. We also visit the churches of San Francisco, Santa Mónica and San Miguel, as well as the Convent of San Felipe de Nery.
PS203 SUCRE FULL-DAY CITY TOUR
DURATION: 8 HOURS
This visit to the city of Sucre allows us to get to know the most representative sites of the capital. In the morning the visit begins with the Recoleta Mirador (lookout point), the Museum of the Recoleta, then the ASUR Textile Museum, which is one of the best collections of textiles in the Bolivian valley region. We will go on to the Metropolitan Cathedral, the museum of the Merced, the Church of San Lázaro, Santo Domingo, the Casa de la Libertad, the patio of the University of San Francisco Xavier, and the Parque Bolivar where many important monuments are located. Also, after enjoying a traditional lunch in a typical restaurant we will visit the Convent of San Felipe Nery. At the end of the afternoon we will move on to the General Cemetery where we can have a look at different mausoleums containing the remains of famous Bolivians.
PS204 SUCRE BY NIGHT
DURATION: 3 HOURS
A visit to the city’s main illuminated monuments and a tour of its traditional streets. After this we will go to a folklore show and taste the gastronomy of the region.
PS205 PALEONTOLOGICAL SUCRE
DURATION: 2 HOURS
Chuquisaca is a palaeontologist’s delight because of the remains of mastodons, glyptodonts and others can be found around the region. We will visit the dinosaur tracks at Bolivia’s largest site dated around 65 million years old. These trail of dinosaur footprints is thought to be the longest in the world. As a complement to this visit, we will visit the Parque Cretacico.
PS206 TARABUCO
DURATION: 10 HOURS (ONLY SUNDAYS)
Tarabuco is a small village of people from the Yampara ethnic group and is 60 km from Sucre. It is one of the Bolivian valleys’ most well-preserved villages as seen through the locals’ colourful textiles and traditional dress. The colour red predominates local dress and their impressive ponchos. On Sundays the community has a fair, which is one of the main economic and social activities as people from other outlying communities gather in Tarabuco to exchange, and buy and sell their goods and socialise. You will be able to see how this centuries-old culture has lasted throughout time.
PS207 JATUN YAMPARA
DURATION: 6 HOURS
Bolivia is home to many different cultures and traditions. Jatun Yampara is a Jalka and Yampara community that enjoys receiving visitors and showing them their culture, traditions and way of life. You will visit their homes, their small local museum, places where the locals make offerings to Mother Earth, and the local school. You can try local dishes and chichi – fermented corn juice. You can also buy handicrafts and ceramics directly from the artisans.
PS208 INCAMACHAY, PUMAMACHAY and MARAGUA
DURATION: 12 HOURS
After breakfast we will head north of the city for about an hour to the rural area to take the road to Incamachay. Along the way you will see primitive paintings from 2500 to 1500 years ago on the rocks along this beautiful valley. The geographical diversity in this zone is dominated by hills and mountains eroded by the wind. In the afternoon, after a cold lunch, we will continue to the community of Maragua. The houses in this small village are still built in the traditional style, and the villagers’ life, textiles and handicrafts are much the same as centuries ago. We will stop off to look at the area’s main attraction – the Crater.
PS209 THE DINOSAUR PRINTS OF MARAGUA
DURATION: 8 HOURS
After breakfast we will leave for Maragua in the Chataquila hills where we will be able to see the recently discovered dinosaur footprints. This easy walk through beautiful scenery will take you back to the time when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Later we will go on to a small community to see the textiles made by the local women. Return to Sucre at the end of the day.
PS210 AUTHENTIC INDIGENOUS POTOLO
DURATION: 8 HOURS
On the outskirts of the capital of Bolivia are small communities of Jalqa people who have preserved their traditions and culture for centuries. The Jalqa women are in charge of the home and making handmade weavings. We will visit a family to learn about their farming and building techniques, and local traditions. Return to Sucre at the end of the day. -

SUCRE AND POTOSÍ

DAY 1
This programme begins at Sucre airport and, after leaving our bags at one of the city’s hotels, we will have a traditional lunch from the Chuquisaca region. In the afternoon we will visit places of historic and cultural importance, such as the Casa de la Libertad (House of Liberty), Mirador (viewing point) and Museum of the Recoleta, the Church of La Merced, and later the Convent of San Felipe de Nery. Before enjoying dinner, we will take in this city’s illuminated monuments.
01 OVERNIGHT IN SUCRE
DAY 2
After breakfast, we will go to Potosí, around 2 hours from Sucre. On arrival we will visit the miners’ market, then climb the Cerro Rico (Rich Mountain) of Potosí and go into one of the mines. In the afternoon after lunch, we will walk through the city and visit the Casa de la Moneda (Mint), the Cathedral and the Tower of the Company of Jesus. As with the previous day we will have dinner in a magical corner of Potosí before taking a well-earned rest.

DURATION: 12 HOURS
Very early in the morning we will go to Potosí at 4050 m.a.s.l. This colonial city sits at the foot of “Sumajorko”, once known as the richest mountain in America. In colonial times Potosí was a thriving city due to the enormous amounts of silver mined in the mountain, which is still being mined today. This visit to Potosí will teach you about mining in Bolivia; you will visit the miners’ market and enter a mine in the mountain.
Later we will visit the Museum of Santa Teresa and the Tower of the Company of Jesus. Return to Sucre at the end of the day. -

CLASSICAL CITY TOUR
DURATION: 4 HOURS
This programme includes walks through the main parts of the city, including pedestrianised areas that reflect the importance of this city during colonial times. You will have the chance to visit the craft fair and the San Francisco Church, and climb the church tower to see the layout of the city and its outskirts. Many of the buildings in Potosí host great examples of religious art and you will be able to get a good feel for the baroque mestizo architectural style while you visit the Church of San Lorenzo, the Convent of Santa Teresa Museum, and the Casa de la Moneda (Mint House).
CITY TOUR II. RICHES OF POTOSÍ
DURATION: 9 HOURS
This programme begins with a trip to the miners’ market, where we will observe the equipment used by the miners to extract silver and other minerals. Then we will go into one of the mines in the Cerro Rico (Rich Mountain) of Potosí to observe work going on inside the mine itself. At the end of the visit we will have lunch, and in the afternoon visit Potosí’s most representative sites: the Church of San Francisco, the Tower of the Company of Jesus and the Convent of Santa Teresa.VISIT TO A MINE
DURATION: 3 HOURS
This programme begins with a traditional breakfast, after which we will pass through the Miners’ Market and begin the ascent to one of the mines in the “Cerro Rico de Potosí”. Please ensure that you are wearing suitable clothing. Once inside, you will learn about life in the mines, how minerals are extracted and the rituals that the miners perform to keep them safe.
